Our Work in the Field
To reach its goals, American Forests creates and leads a variety of initiatives, most which are comprised of several projects. For example, our Tree Equity: Career Pathways Initiative connects unemployed and underemployed people to tree industry careers. One of the projects we are doing to make that happen is the TAZO Tree Corps.
Our work happens in our Innovation Lab, where we create tools and conduct scientific research; in cities and rural landscapes, where we do everything from writing forestry plans to planting trees; and in the federal and state capitals, ground zero for getting the funding and policies to reforest America.

Career Pathways
Planting and caring for trees is a business that requires skilled workers — people who know how to properly plant and water trees, climb them so they can be pruned, care for their health and more. But there is a labor shortage in the tree industry. There is an annual need for approximately 8,300 tree-industry workers nationwide.
